The image of vultures circling and sitting atop a church steeple, is one I’ve actually witnessed a few times in my life. The poignant beauty of the clouds and steeple juxtaposed with the vultures feeding on the carrion is a stirring picture and representative of having been personally “mishandled” by those claiming religious authority. Many use the words “faith” and “religion” interchangeably. I firmly believe they are not. The piece represents my personal journey. It has been a difficult one, yet freeing.
