Dance of Wishes

Hand-Printed Edition

While I was printing the Dandelion piece in this series, I literally had dozens of dandelions I’d picked for reference as I was layering color. As dandelions do, they eventually all went to seed. You know, those beautiful little poofs of fuzzy seeds that might grant a wish if we blow them all into the wind, each tiny seed carrying our wishes off to be granted.

One afternoon, I grabbed a few just to see what would happen on the print table. It was a disastrous mess overall, but the tiny, intricate marks the individual seeds made were fascinating under magnification. This led to inking-up individual seeds and relief printing hundreds of them with jewelers goggles and precision tweezers.

These tiny monotypes were scanned, enlarged up to 6,000 percent, and color separated into two-colors, light and dark. Once on the print table, each silk screen stencil was used multiple times to lay in color including a myriad of warm metallics, iridescent pearl and bronze varnishes onto the hand painted black textured background.

My wish came true. A beautiful piece that celebrates intricate beauty, form and detail most have never seen.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece. No other prints or variations are available.

About this series

For over two years, I collected natural elements—leaves, flowers, feathers, even dragonfly wings—to create and capture direct monotype impressions. Each print captures not just the image but the very texture of these organic forms, yielding a depth that even photography cannot match. Yet, the beauty of these monotype prints was often too small to be fully appreciated or even seen with the naked eye.

Details of the Meadow is my solution—an expansion of these delicate, intricate prints into large-scale works that celebrate their depth, complexity, and inherent beauty. By using screen printing as a tool for reinterpretation, I bridge the fine details of nature with the expressive qualities of printmaking, ensuring that every nuance is seen, felt, and experienced.
